Abstract

Abstract

This research is a study to use the action research method. In phase 1 of the research the aim was to develop a causal relationship model for cyber bullying behaviors, through surveying, with a questionnaire, 660 students aged between 16 and 18 years. The causal influence was analyzed. Research phase 2 aimed to develop a preventive program for cyber bullying behaviors by Group interviews with key informants who were 89 students, 18 teachers, 9 school directors, 22 parents, and 5 experts, after which the content was analyzed. Research phase 3 aimed to study the effect of a cyber bullying preventive program on participants of the study consisting of an experimental group with 30 students, a control group with 30 students, 2 teachers, 1 school director, and 30 parents. The data were analyzed using a paired samples t-test. The results of the study revealed that causal relationship models based on the assumption there is fit well into the empirical data. The cyber bullying behaviors for students were directly influenced by frustration, followed by group violence, media violence, and authoritarian parenting of which the path coefficient values were .57, 18, 18 and .04, respectively. This was influenced indirectly by group violence, parental violence, media violence via a frustration of which the path coefficient values were .27, 12, and 09, respectively. The coefficient prediction (R2) of cyber bullying behaviors and frustration showed path coefficient values of .66 and 61, respectively. A preventive program for cyber bullying behaviors resulting in critical thinking, perception and awareness, consisted of brainstorming activities, exchanging points of view, debates and games, over a total of 15 hours, and the effect of the preventive program can be preventing cyber bullying behaviors of students with a statistical significance level of .001.
