The objectives of this study were to determine the status of the production and export of Thai orchids to Japan, external-internal factors affecting the export and marketing strategies to provide the products meeting Japanese customer needs. The study employed secondary data collected from various documents and primary data obtained by sending the questionnaires to 34 administrators of orchid-exporting companies. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and SWOT analysis. The results revealed that Thailand is still a leading exporter of orchids to Japan. The main external factor enhancing the opportunities for exporting was a large amount of orchids exported to Japan, while the main extemal factor regarded as a barrier was the slow-down of the Japanese economy. The main internal factor strengthening the potential for export was the diversity of Thai orchids, while the main external factor regarded as weakness was the lower price of exported orchids. The study suggested many strategies to maintain the competitiveness of Thai orchids in the Japanese market. Increasing the diversity of Thai orchids and standardization of products could help expand the marketing. Information technology should be used to develop database and facilitate all aspects of the Thai orchid business. Investment in research is needed to produce the new kinds of orchids and improves the quality of existing products in order to increase the demand and continue meeting the needs of Japanese customers. Information distribution and advertising on Thai orchids could create confidence in Thai orchids and Thai exporters. Standardization of products, quality improvement for better products relative to the competitors, increase of the distribution channels to reduce any single buyer's bargaining power, looking for a new market and advertising of Thai orchids were among the suggestions found by this study.

The research on milk-cows management for the quality increment of raw milk in Phatthalung Province aims to 1) study social and economic features and agriculturists' milk-cows management, 2) study social and economic factors and agriculturists' milk-cows management with relations to the raw milk quality in Phatthalung Province, 3) analyze strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of the agriculturists' milk-cows management in Phatthalung Province, and 4) define strategies on milk-cows management for the quality increment of raw milk in Phatthalung Province. The research data are comprised of the secondary and primary data. The secondary data are compiled from the agriculturists' raw milk quality inspection. In addition, the primary data are collected by interviewing 60 agriculturists who are farm owners as well as 5 cooperative officers in Phatthalung Province. The results indicate that most agriculturists are males with milk-cows farming as main career. "Holstein Friesian" becomes the popular breed among the agriculturists. The milk-cows are properly fed by rough, concentrated feeds, and supplementary minerals. In addition, health care, disease prevention programs, and farm sanitary practice are provided for the milk-cows farming. The results on factors relating to raw milk quality are feeding patterns and frequencies, new born cow records, fresh grass feeding, hays topped with molasses, Tuberculosis prevention programs, stalls and milking floor fumigation once a month, and milk drawer cleaning with Sodium Hydroxide. The internal factors analysis of the agriculturists' milk-cows management reveals as following. As for milk-cows breeds, the agriculturists' operations on rough, concentrated feeds and minerals, health care management programs, and farming sanitary practice become the strengths of the agriculturists' milk-cows management. However, the weaknesses are fermented rough feed production, stall features, and raw milk quality. Meanwhile, opportunities are resources for rough feed production, governmental subsidiaries, promotions and policies, raw milk prices of Phatthalung Milk-cows Cooperative, and the increasing demand for raw milk consumption. On the other hand, costs of breeds, concentrated feeds, and free trade agreement become threats. Consequently, the strategies are defined in accordance with the government and the agriculturists' operations on rough feed production, quality fresh grass provision, additional dry grass quantity as well as fermented rough feed promotion. Moreover, the control of farming sanitary practice is implemented for disease prevention and surveillance as well. Besides, the subsidies are granted for the stall improvement in order to comply with the farm standards, which bring in the systematic management.
