Abstract
This mixed-method study is titled The Relationship between Monetary and
Non-monetary Benefits of Employees in Private Companies: Case Study in Songkhla
Province. The objectives include 1) to understand the relationship between monetary and
non-monetary benefits, 2) to investigate employee benefit budget, and 3) to analyze how
information technology can be used to for making decisions on employees’ benefits and
the knowledge about benefit provision. The samples were gathered from 400 private
employees and 9 managers from human resource departments. The instruments consisted
of questionnaires and interviews, analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard
deviation, and Pearson product-moment correlation.
The results indicate that the product-moment correlation between
monetary and non-monetary benefit in private companies showed in every factor was
positive with statistical significance of 0.01. Additionally, the economic benefit factor, the
health care benefit factor, and the future stability benefit factor suggested a high level of
relationship with non-monetary benefits. Lastly, the educational benefit factor revealed a
middle level of relationship with non-monetary benefits. Moreover, it was found that the
benefit budget for both monetary and non-monetary was generally low. The results clarify
that the most commonly used types of information consisted of the key performance
indicator, absents, leaves, being late for work, training, job descriptions, competition in the
labor market, work performance, resignation, and behavior. However, the issue of the
unsatisfactory benefit is a key factor contributing problems for organizations and their
employees. Therefore, the researcher would like to present the approach for the
information utilized to make the decisions regarding employees’ benefits for an effective
approach in human resource management.
