Abstract

The quasi-experimental research aimed to compare the effects of the goal attainment program using Line OA: Teen Mom Care on self-care behaviors and hematocrit among pregnant adolescents with anemia. Participants were 54 pregnant adolescents with anemia who attended the antenatal unit at 6 hospitals that are secondary hospitals and primary hospitals in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province from April to June 2024. They were assigned to an intervention group (27 persons) to receive the Goal Attainment Program Using Line OA: Teen Mom Care for 4 weeks in addition to routine care, and a control group (27 persons) to receive only routine care. The research instruments consisted of 2 parts: 1) Goal attainment program using Line OA: Teen Mom Care, and 2) the data collection instruments, which comprised 2 forms: (1) the general information questionnaire, and (2) self-care behavior to reduce anemia in pregnant adolescents questionnaire. The questionnaire was examined for content validity by 3 experts, yielding a content validity index (CVI) of 1, The reliability of the questionnaire was examined using Cronbach�s alpha coefficient, yielding the value of .77 The Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and chi-square and the hypotheses valid using independent t-test, paired t-test, Wilcoxon-signed rank test, and the Mann-Whitney U Test. The results showed that the self-care behavior and the hematocrit of pregnant adolescents with anemia who received the Goal Attainment Program Using Line OA: Teen Mom Care were significantly higher than before receiving the goal attainment program (p < .001). When comparing between groups, it was found that self-care behaviors and the hematocrit levels of pregnant adolescents with anemia who received the Goal Attainment Program were significantly higher than those of the control group (p < .001 and p < .05 respectively). The Goal Attainment Program Using Line OA: Teen Mom Care was shown to improve self-care behaviors and hematocrit in pregnant adolescents with anemia.
