Abstract

The primary objectives of this research were to develop a work happiness measurement scale for personnel under the Provincial Education Offices in the three southern border provinces of Thailand and to assess their levels of work happiness. The study sample consisted of 82 personnel from the Provincial Education Offices in Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat, selected using stratified random sampling. Data were collected using a five-point Likert scale questionnaire. Statistical analyses included mean, standard deviation, content validity, face validity, construct validity, discriminant power, and reliability, conducted using the JASP software.The findings revealed two key results. First, the synthesis of related concepts, theories, principles, definitions, and prior research identified six dimensions of work happiness relevant to the context of the three southern border provinces: (1) interpersonal relationships, (2) love for the job, (3) job success, (4) recognition, (5) compensation and welfare, and (6) work environment. The finalized scale consisted of 30 items, with content validity indices ranging from 0.60 to 1.00. Face validity demonstrated a statistically significant positive correlation with the "HAPPINOMETER" developed by the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (r = .288, p = .009). Confirmatory Factor Analysis indicated a good model fit (?� = 10.22, ?�/df = 1.21, df = 8, p = 0.25, CFI = 0.987, TLI = 0.97, GFI = 0.932, AGFI = 0.961, and RMSEA = 0.05). The discriminant power of the items ranged from 0.418 to 0.708, and the reliability coefficient was 0.938.Second, the analysis of work happiness levels showed that personnel experienced a high level of overall work happiness (mean = 4.23).
