Abstract

Digital intelligence is a vital 21st-century skill that needs to be cultivated from primary education levels. This research and development study aimed to: 1) develop a board game based on game-based learning principles to enhance digital intelligence for sixth-grade students, 2) compare digital intelligence scores of the experimental group before and after using the developed board game, and 3) compare digital intelligence scores between the control and experimental groups. The research was conducted in two phases: Phase 1 involved the development of the learning board game, and Phase 2 involved testing the developed board game using a quasi-experimental research design with a pretest-posttest control group. The target group, obtained through cluster random sampling, consisted of sixth-grade students studying technology (computing science) at schools within the Nawamit Educational Network, Thepha District, Songkhla Province, under Songkhla Primary Educational Service Area Office 3. The sample comprised 23 students from Bankraarn School as the experimental group and 23 students from Chumchon Nikhom Srangtoneng Thepha School as the control group. The research instruments included: 1) a digital intelligence-enhancing learning board game, 2) learning management plans for the experimental group, 3) learning management plans for the control group, and 4) a digital intelligence assessment form. Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, dependent samples t-test, and independent samples t-test. The findings revealed that: 1) the developed learning board game achieved the highest quality level (x ? = 4.56, S.D. = 0.54), 2) the experimental group's digital intelligence scores after using the board game were significantly higher than before at the .01 statistical level, and 3) the experimental group's digital intelligence scores were significantly higher than those of the control group at the .01 statistical level.
