Abstract
ABSTRACT This cross-sectional, correlational, path analysis study was designed to develop and test the hypothesized causal model of quality of life (QoL) among family caregivers (FCs) caring for dependent older persons with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in Indonesia using the revised Wilson and Cleary Model of Health-Related Quality of Life (WCMHRQOL). A sample of 270 individuals was purposively recruited from five community health centers (CHCs). The Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Revised 10 (CESD-R-.10), Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI), Duke University Religion Index (DUREL), Perceived Knowledge on T2DM Care Scale (PKS), Family-Carer Diabetes Management Self-Efficacy Scale (F-DMSES), Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), and Quality of Life Index (QLI) were used to measure the study variables. Descriptive statistics and path analysis using partial least square (PLS) structural equation modeling (SEM) were used to analyze the data. Path coefficient analysis showed that depressive symptoms had the strongest negative direct effect on QoL of FCs (=-0.744, t=14.598, p=0.000, P
