Abstract

The purpose of this research was to: 1) compare the learning achievement in Science for Grade 5 students before and after learning, using the STEAM Education approach, and 2) compare the attitudes towards Science for Grade 5 students before and after learning, using the STEAM Education approach. The research design is a quasi-experimental research design, specifically a one-group pretest-posttest design. The target group for this research consists of Grade 5 students who are studying the Science subject.the first semester of the 2024 academic year at Mahidol School, Sabayoi District, Songkhla Province, with a total of 10 students selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments used in this study included: 1) a lesson plan based on the STEAM Education approach for the Science subject, 2) a test to measure learning achievement in Science, and 3) an attitude scale towards Science. The data were analyzed by calculating the mean, standard deviation, and test statistics using nonparametric statistics, specifically the Wilcoxon Rank Test.The research findings revealed that: 1) Students who were taught using the STEAM Education approach had significantly higher learning achievement in Science after the lesson compared to before, at thesignificanat level of .01 and 2) Students who were taught using the STEAM Education approach had significantly more positive attitudes towards Science after the lesson compared to before, at thesignificanat level of .01 Keyword : STEAM education
