Abstract

The objectives of this study were to investigate the level of charismatic leadership of head department from the perspective of subordinates, to explore the influence of gender, age, work experience, personality and leader-member social exchange on charismatic leadership, and to identify charismatic leadership traits. The subjects consisted of 214 subordinates from the departments in Prince of Songkla University. The data were collected through online questionnaires, and analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and Multiple Regression Analysis. The results revealed that subordinates rate the charismatic leadership of head department at sometimes level. Moreover, there are 4 factors significantly influence charismatic leadership of head department at the level of .5. Leader-member social exchange, conscientiousness extraversion, and gender were significantly influenced on charismatic leadership. The subordinates indicated that charismatic leadership traits should be justice, careful, work knowing, bold and brave decision and honesty.
