Abstract

The objectives of this research were to investigate characteristics and a level of drug store operations according to Community Pharmacy Accreditation standard, measured their performances by balanced scorecard, and test on influences of drug store operations according to Community Pharmacy Accreditation standard on their performance measured by balanced scorecard in five southern border provinces. A set of questionnaires was used as a research instrument to collect the data from 257 drug stores in Satun, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwas provinces. The descriptive statistics employed to analyze the data was frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and multiple regression. The research results revealed that all of the drug stores have been operated according to Community Pharmacy Accreditation standard at a high level. Standard 1-locations, tools, and services supports-was evaluated at the highest level. In terms of performance measured by balanced scorecard, it was in high level. A learning and growth perspective was in high level with the highest mean. For the test results, it was found that the drug store operations according to Community Pharmacy Accreditation Standard 2 3 4 and 5 positively influenced on performance measured by balanced scorecard with a statistically significant difference. However, Standard 1 had no impacts on performance measured by balanced scorecard. In conclusion, this was the first research work on the relationships between Community Pharmacy Accreditation standard and balanced scorecard in five Southern Border Provinces. It was suggested that this research would be beneficial for entrepreneurs and related offices in order to be a guideline for drug store development in these areas.
