Abstract
Abstract
This thesis objective: 1) Study the history and background of the Muslims of Koh Yao Noi. 2) Study on Islamic revival in Koh Yao Noi Sub-district, Koh Yao District, Phang Nga Province. and 3) Analyze cultural coexistence, Adaptation, and maintenance of Muslim identity on Koh Yao Noi amidst the changing social context. This research is qualitative. Research papers and the field using techniques. The research method in ethnographic cultural anthropology for 6 months was based on five data collection processes. Documentary Research, Informal Interview, In-depth Interview, Participant Observation, and Focus Group, analytic induction was used and the analysis was done by typological analysis.
The results of the research found that 1)The area of Koh Yao Noi is an old community that has been around for more than 200-300 years and is historically related to the city of Thalang. (Phuket) and has a variety of ethnicities. Moreover, most of the culture still adheres to the practices and diagnoses of Palang Ae. 2) The Islamic revival in Koh Yao Noi Sub-district, Koh Yao District, Phang Nga Province is divided into three concept groups: The Lete Sunni (Sufi concept) Jama'ah Tabligh, and Salafi. 3)The cultural coexistence of Muslim Koh Yao Noi includes fraternity, fundamental ideas, and the evolution of the Sufi group and Salafi groups in Koh Yao Noi, The issue of conflict between Sufi and Salafi groups in Koh Yao Noi, and views on traditionalist and Modernists. And there are four periods of social change in Koh Yao Noi. This gave rise to three groups of thoughts, including some villagers. Each group had different adaptation and maintenance of identity.
