Abstract

This research aimed to study 1) the decision level to pursue further education among fourth-year undergraduate students in the Social Sciences program at Prince of Songkla University, Hat Yai Campus, and 2) to study factors influencing fourth-year undergraduate students in social sciences at Prince of Songkla University, HatYai Campus. The quantitative research involves a sample group of 212 fourth-year undergraduate students enrolled in the Social Sciences program at Prince of Songkla University, Hat Yai Campus. The study involved a sample size of 53 students per faculty, which was selected randomly. The data was collected using a questionnaire on 5-point rating scale, and statistical analyses were performed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis.The results of the research were as follows: 1) 172 students were interested in studying at the master's level, constituting 81.1%. The level of opinions regarding decision-making factors for pursuing master's studies is overall at its highest (x? = 4.54) when considering income. The variables with the highest mean values, arranged from highest to lowest, include giving opportunities to learn (x? = 4.74), being able to promote job positions for the better (x? = 4.71), and exchanging knowledge and experiences (x? = 4.67). Other factors include making progress in one's career (x? = 4.63), changing ideas and perspectives in work (x? = 4.63), changing ideas and perspectives in daily life (x? = 4.61), being accepted by society (x? = 4.59), being able to increase salary (x? = 4.57), getting to know friends in various professions (x? = 4.54), and engaging in self-employment or additional work (x? = 4.31). Additionally, expenses throughout the course are noted to be not very high (x? = 4.30) 2) The results indicated that the following factors influenced the decision to further mester�s-level studies: 1) knowledge factors 2) income factor 3) social factors 4) appropriateness of educational expenses and 5) students interested and aptitude. These five variables can predict the decision among fourth-year undergraduate students in the Social Sciences program at Prince of Songkla University, HatYai Campus, with 42.8 percent towards further education.
