Abstract
ZnAlOa, ZnO/ZnAlzO4, g-C3Na/ZnAl2O4 and CeO2,ZnO/ZnAlzOa
nanocomposites were prepared by solution method. The thermal behavior, structural, morphological and optical properties were investigated by TGA, XRD, SEM and UV-Vis spectrometer, respectively. ZnAl204 exhibited a cubic structure. The ZnO, g-C3Na and CeO loading contents did not deteriorate the crystal structure of ZnAl204. All samples displayed an agglomerated nanoparticles as a cluster. The optical band gap increased as a function of nO loading content whereas the optical band gap decreased as g-C,Na and CeO, loading contents were increased. The highest photocatalytic activity of ZnO/ZnAlz04 under UV and visible irradiation was obtained when 0.06 mol KOH was used. For g-CNa/ZnAlOa, the photocatalytic activity of ZnAlzOa, 10% and 20% g-C3Nq/ZnAl204 were the same whereas 30% g-C3Na/ZnAl20, presented the highest photocatalytic activity under visible irradiation.
In addition, CeO2,ZnO/ZnAl,0a prepared from 0.1 mmol of Ce(NOs) showed the highest photocatalytic activity under UV irradiation while the photocatalytic activity under visible irradiation was similar.
