Abstract

This study was a mixed method research employing both quantitative and qualitative data. The objectives of this study were 1) to investigate level of equal employment opportunities, transformational leadership, work-life balance, organizational culture and career advancement of Women assistant district officers in Songkhla Province and Phatthalung Province, 2) to examine factors of equal employment opportunities, transformational leadership, work-Life balance, organizational culture affecting career advancement of Women Assistant District Officers in Songkhla Province and Phatthalung Province and 3) to study problems and suggestions of career advancement of Women Assistant District Officers in Songkhla Province and Phatthalung Province. The population of the study was 55 Women Assistant District in Songkhla Province and Phatthalung Province. Percentage, Distribution, Means, Standard Deviation and Simple Regression were employed to analyze the data. It was found that the variables that affect the career advancement of Women Assistant District Officers in Songkhla Province and Phatthalung Province. were in the highest level with equal employment opportunities (Beta = 0.704, Adj R=49), work-life balance (Beta = 0.744, Adj R2 = .54) and organizational culture (Beta=0.758 Adj R=57) statistically significantly (0.05). Factors of equal employment opportunities, transformational leadership, work-life balance, and organizational culture affected positively the prediction of the career advancement of Women Assistant District Officers in Songkhla Province and Phatthalung Province However, the result of qualitative study was different from the quantitative research. According to the quantitative research, the result showed that equal employment opportunities affected the career advancement. Moreover, factors of the chance of creating work-life balance and life influenced the career advancement of Women Assistant District Officers in Songkhla Province and Phatthalung Province. This is not line with the qualitative result, revealing that most Women Assistant District Officers in Songkhla Province and Phatthalung Province did not have balance in life and work because the job was not suitable for women body and their family expected them of taking care of the family and doing chores. These led to decisions making of Women Assistant District Officers to choose their family instead of career advancement. The factor of transformational leadership was important for Women Assistant District Officers. Besides, the acceptance as Women Assistant District Officers was challenging.
