Abstract
The museum is both a source of learning and also a tourist
destination. Nevertheless, statistics show the continuously decreasing of museum visitors significantly. We propose a serious game with location based augmented reality (AR) technology as an edutainment tool during visiting the museum aimed at increasing the participation of the museum visitors with respect to the learning outcome together with entertainment. This serious game is created in android platform for Phuket Mining Museum, Thailand as a case study. The evaluation with 60 participants with pre and post test in accord with observation and satisfaction questionnaires were used. Experimental results show that the participants who use the treasure in museum game while visiting the museum have more learning outcomes and satisfaction score than the regular museum visitors.
