Abstract

This research aims to study the bioghraphy of the Fațăni Ulamas', the compositions of their books and the relation of Muslims in Fațăni society lifestyle to the Fatani Ulamas' who have composed books on all three major sciences within one research. The research was conducted by recording of data, observation, interviewing and scientific, ecological, historical and social analyzing method. The research found that: 1. The three Fațăni Ulamas': Sheikh Dawud al-Faṭāni, Sheikh Muḥammad Nür al- Fațăni and Sheikh 'Aḥmad al-Fatāni were famous in Malay world, and specialist in a variety of sciences including the three major sciences. They all put a lot of effort into making academic productivities and had a lot of disciples. They passed away in The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. 2. The two books of them al-Jawahir al-Saniyyah and Kifayah al-Muhtadiy were composed and arranged similarly, that is, al-Tawhid, al-Fiqh and al-Tasawwuf respectively. The both books are still being used as main books in Pondok in Faţānī and the neighboring countries. The book al-Fatawa al-Fatāniyyah which is about the judgment of Islamic matters was also arranged in the same way as the two books mentioned above were, that is, al-Tawḥīd, al-Fiqh and al-Tasawwuf respectively. This book has been quoted by the scholars in Fațăni society so far. 3. These books of the three major sciences are related to Muslims in Fațăni society. They are divided into three aspects of relation: al-Aqidah, that is, Muslims in Faţăni society lifestyle is closely related to the contents of these three books which mean they adhere to al-Asy'ariy but some of them are still practicing differently to the dogmas of these three books. al-Figh, that is, the religious activities of Muslims in Fațăni society are closely related to the contents of these three books, as they were presented according to The Syafi'i. al-Tasawwuf, that is the behaviors what the Muslims in Fațăni society behave is related to these three books, but some of them behave differently to the books, as they don't learn seriously from the books of the three Fatani Ulamas'.
