Abstract
This research is intended to (1) Study the dynamics and current situation of coastal resources management in Koh Lipe community. (2) Synthesize the factors affecting the management of coastal resources for Ecotourism in Koh Lipe. (3) Synthetic forms of coastal resource management for ecotourism in Koh Lipe. (4) Propose ways to manage coastal resources to proper community ecotourism using the mixed research method. (1) The RRA (Rapid Rural Appraisal) alongside with a history of community, seasonal calendar, and spatial surveys to conduct a focus group discussion with 15 stakeholders in coastal resource management. (2) In- Depth interviews with 20 household random samples that can approach a specific vision linking coastal resources with ecotourism. These 2 sections uses qualitative analysis by interpreting and creating a conclusion by analytic induction model. (3) The questionnaire was collected from 205 households from village no.7 of Koh Lipe community to be used for analyzing quantitative data using descriptive statistics software.
Results shows that (1) the dynamics of the community and the management of coastal resources in Koh Lipe can be divided into 4 periods according to the changes in the coastal resource utilization. (1.1) Settlements of Urak Lawoi in 1897 - 1907. (1.2) Announcement of Tarutao National Park in 1974. (1.3) Modification alternatives to career period in 1985 (1.4) The year of expansion of Koh Lipe tourism industry. The use of coastal resources currently being used to utilize the occupation and tourism. As a result, there is less animals along the coastal area, more intrusion into the fisheries near the coast. The inequality in catching fish near the park are, including the usurpation of fresh water in the dry season, no arable land, lack of forest and oil ships resulted subjective views of coastal water degradation. (2) The opinions of the community on the factors of coastal resource management at the high level are: (2.1) Consciousness for rehabilitation (2.2) Participants involved in coastal resource management must have a sufficient amount of time to make decisions about the activities and has the power to bargain. (2.3) Non- governmental organizations in the area must contribute to the drive for coastal management. (3) Synthetic forms of coastal resource management for proper ecotourism. The feedback from the awareness of the management of coastal resources for ecotourism for ecotourism of Koh Lipe community can be categorized in 3 as follows: (1) Ecotourism tourism culture (1.1) Chao Lay tourism (1.2) Culture and traditions tourism (1.3) Historical tourisms (2) Ecological tourism (2.1) Astronomy tourism (2.2) Ecotourism (3) Travel in special interests (3.1) Health tourism (3.2) Tourism in religious (3.3) Study travel on ethnic or minority groups (3.4) Business travel (3.5) Homestay - Travel
The management of coastal resources for Ecotourism in Koh Lipe community is not quite appropriate due to lack of supporting factors in many aspects that contribute to the exploitation of coastal resources appropriately to make government is fully aware of the importance of knowledge system of the community. The acceptance of the community in monitoring the use of resources through beliefs, traditions, and to ensure that the communities can use their wisdom in the management of coastal resources that are available.
