บทบาทของเรื่องเล่าและพิธีกรรมที่มีต่อการสร้างอัตลักษณ์ของชุมชน กรณีศึกษา "พระเจ้าตากวัดเขาขุนพนม" ตำบลบ้านเกาะ อำเภอพรหมคีรี จังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราช

Abstract

The purpose of this qualitative study was to investigate the role narratives and rituals play in identity construction within the Wat Khao Khun Phanom Community, Ban Koh Sub-district, Phrom Khiri District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The study found that the narratives identified in "Phra Chao Tak of Wat Khao Khun Phanom* played a critical role in the identity formation of the Wat Khao Khun Phanom Community. Parts of the content, particularly those pertaining to King Taksin's life, were modified by the people in the community so as to better align with more mainstream versions of the story which posited that King Taksin sought political asylum in Wat Khao Khun Phanom, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province and stayed there until the end of his life. After analyzing the elements of the narrative including point of view, plot, character, and setting which lead to the theme, it can be seen that the people in the community used these elements to create the narrative of "Phra Chao Tak of Wat Khao Khun Phanom" and in doing so distinguished itself created the history of the community to show that Wat Khao Khun Phanom Community has its own history and origin which have a significant difference from other communities and the ancestors of the community were somehow related to King Taksin, the great king of Thailand. The ritual of "Phra Chao Tak of Wat Khao Khun Phanom" at Wat Khao Khun Phanom Community, Nakhon Si Thammarat has its roots in the community's narrative about "Phra Chao Tak" which asserts that Phra Chao Tak spent his final years in monkhood at Wat Khao Khun Phanom. This ritual is held at the monument of King Taksin within the monastic area of Wat Khao Khun Phanom. The elements of this ritual include the leaders of the ritual, participants in the ritual, the location for conducting the ritual, and the incantation and offerings. This ritual has four important roles within the community: 1. describing the origin and identity construction to the people in the community, 2. providing education for the people in the community, 3. maintaining the community's norms, and 4. creating opportunities for interaction between the people inside and outside the community. However, the most important aspect of the ritual of "Phra Chao Tak of Wat Khao Khun Phanom". In addition, this ritual creates a conceptual "meaning" which defines the community identity in terms of social relation which is different from other communities.
