Abstract

Abstract

The research " The Influence of Transformational Leadership and Learning Culture on the Behavioral Competencies of Supporting Staff in Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University " aimed to 1) study the levels of transformational leadership, learning culture, and behavioral competencies of the supporting staff in Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University (NSTRU), 2) analyze the influence of transformational leadership and learning culture which affected the behavioral competencies of supporting staff in NSTRU, and 3) study the problems and solutions of transformational leadership and learning culture which affected the behavioral competencies of supporting staff in NSTRU. The research used mixed methods. For quantitative research, the researcher used a questionnaire to gain the data from the sample group, which was 191 supporting staff in NSTRU selected by convenience sampling with Krejcie and Morgan's table. For qualitative research, the research used semi-structured interviews to gain the data from the informants: the supporting staff at NSTRU. One staff from each internal department on the levels of faculty/office/institution having an equivalent position of the faculty was selected to be the informant, 10 staff totaling, using purposive sampling mainly based on the study's objectives. The research used a statistical package for data processing using descriptive statistics: frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, and Multiple regression analysis. The research showed that (1) the levels of transformational leadership, learning culture, and behavioral competencies of the supporting staff were high. (2) The analysis result of the coefficient on the predictors revealed that there were four variables: learning culture, educational degree (lower than a Bachelor’s degree), gender (female), and transformational leadership, which could influence the core competencies of supporting staff in NSTRU. The learning culture and educational degree (lower than a Bachelor’s degree) influenced the core competencies of supporting staff in NSTRU at the statistical significance of 0.01. The gender (female) and transformational leadership influenced the core competencies of supporting staff in NSTRU at the statistical significance of 0.05. The only variable: learning culture could influence the specific competencies of supporting staff in NSTRU at the statistical significance of 0.01. Furthermore, (3) from the qualitative data, most opinions indicated a need for the administrators and university to pay attention to drive the supporting staff to have more progress in their career path to support and replace the staff who will retire in the future.
