Abstract

The objective of Research on the concept of dissent of Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah in the book Raf al-Malam Anil A'immat al-A'lam is to study history, academic works, evangelism and different opinions of Ibn Taymiyah in the book of Raf al-Malam Anil A'immat al-A'lam including his attitude towards the sages and a comparative study of his approach with the way of the first 300 years. As well as the impact on the Islamic nation from the past to the present, using qualitative research methods, collect information from documents and using descriptive data analysis methods. The research discovered that 1) Ibn Taymiyah was a famous and respected great philosopher. He played an important role in Islamic studies, He authored books in all branches of Islamic studies with many of his disciples. A book that stands out about dissent is Raf al-Malam Anil A'immat al-A'lam which is a book that has been highly regarded by past and present for presenting facts about the factors and causes of dissent as well as reflexing Ibn Taymiyah’s point of view and ideas toward significant differences of opinion which consistent with the approach of in the first 300 years and honoring the philosophers on issues of dissent within the framework of Islamic principles. 2) The dissents are one of Allah's wills. It is considered as an ordinary thing that can normally happen and is not just occurred in the present era, but has existed since the past and was occurred to people of all levels including prophets, companions of the Prophet and also among the philosophers. Factors that cause differences of opinion are from 3 obstacles and 10 reasons as stated by Ibn Taymiyah in “Raf al-Malam” book. In fact, different opinions don’t cause negative impact on the Islamic nation if it is understood correctly because Islam is not open to boundless differences of opinion, but Islam lays down strong frameworks and rules. Therefore, a thorough study and understanding along with Having a positive attitude and be open-minded will result in good results in research, analysis and synthesis which lead to the cause of knowledge and innovation that is beneficial to academics and the coexistence of the Islamic nation.
