Abstract

The objectives of this study were: to determine the level of leadership according to the Full Range Leadership Model (FRLM) among leaders of local administrative organizations in Narathiwat Province in the roles they play in a peace building process; the level of the roles played by leaders of local administrative organizations in Narathiwat Province in the peace building process; to compare leadership of leaders of local administrative organizations in Narathiwat Province and their roles in the peace building process classified according to personal factors; and to examine the relationship between leaderships according to the Full Range leadership model (FRLM) and the roles in the peace building process. The primary part of this survey research was quantitative research with qualitative research to support the results of the quantitative research with in-depth data of each case collected from in-depth interviews. The results revealed that the level of leadership according to the Full Range Leadership Model (FRLM) among leaders of local administrative organizations in Narathiwat Province was at a high level; the role in the peach building process of the leaders of the local administrative organizations in Narathiwat Province was also at a high level; leaders with different work experience in politics (being chairman of the organization) were statistically different at the level 0.05 in the facilitation role for the peace building process. The role in the peace building process had a positive relationship with leadership according to the Full Range Leadership Model (FRLM) only transformational leadership at a statistically significant level of 0.05. From interviewing leaders of local administrative organizations in Narathiwat Province, it was found that most of them played a mediating role that linked building of knowledge and understanding for local people formally and informally.
