แนวทางการพัฒนาแรงจูงใจให้นักศึกษาเป็นนักกิจกรรมนักศึกษา คณะวิศวกรรมศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยสงขลานครินทร์

Abstract

This dissertation summarizes the motivations of the students of the Faculty of Engineering, Prince of Songkla University to be activist including the process to encourage students to become the activist in order to develop their potential to be the expected graduate. The qualitative research method is applied with the seventeen student activists and two student affairs officers of the Faculty of Engineering as key informants. The Purposive Sampling is applied for in-depth interview as research tool. The finding is their motivations have the correlation with the Modern Theories of Motivation; Intrinsic Motivation and Extrinsic Motivation. The Intrinsic Motivations are Personal Interest and Sense of Achievement, Challenge and Self-Development, and Social Recognition. The Extrinsic Motivations are Policies of the Faculty of Engineering to support their development, Influences of friends and Demands of Entrepreneurs. In addition, the interesting findings are also Domicile has the correlation with their motivation. (1) The students without residence in Hat Yai District have more desire of socialization with new groups of friends with mutual interests and attractions, (2) The appropriate style of activities, (3) Cordiality, (4) Support from senior activists which encourage them to convey the same experiences and impression to the next generation. And (5) The first impression towards the activities they involve. The recommendations are provided for the development of student activities; More flexibility on condition of cocurricular activities to allow students to involve any activities based on their situation and readiness. Not limit by their academic year, Advisory Committee on Student Affairs should be established as advisor to support the student activities and more welfare allocation for the activists including sufficient basic facilities in order to draw their inspiration to be the student activist as expected
