Abstract
This research aimed to study the condition and cultural heritage
values of the local pavilions (Salaklanghon) in Sathingphra Peninsula, as well as to analyze the connection to cultural tourism, which was able to lead to a reactivation management guidelines for enhancing the cultural tourism of Sathingphra Peninsula.
This research was a qualitative and field survey research conducted during 2015 -
2019. The tools used in the research were surveys and field records, interviewing form, and brainstorming sessions. The samples in this research were customized by a specific sampling method. The research was conducted by Interviewing 399 people involved in the rehabilitation of the local pavilions (Salaklanghon), the groups
included people involved in the construction, users, participants in planning to use the local pavilions (Salaklanghon) for the public benefit, academicians, developers in the Sathingphra Peninsula area and together with a group of authorized organizations, network partners, both in government and private sectors, who had played a role in the conservation and revitalization of the artistic environment.
The results of the study could indicate 202 Salaklanghon's geographic
location in the Sathingphra Peninsula mapping, the highest number of Salaklanghon was in Singhanakhon District, followed by Sathingphra District, Ranot District and Krasae Sin District respectively. Most of the Salaklanghon located along the roadside and seaside near Songkhla Lake and the Gulf of Thailand. Some located near canals, but most of the Salaklanghon condensed among the lower area of the Sathingphra
Peninsula.

Most of the Salaklanghon style was constructed with wooden
materials. The mposition and external environment included empty space, big trees and ponds. There were five values of Salaklanghon, which were (1) Spiritual value, that all of which was built for the public benefit and jointly created by people
in the community (2) Social and cultural values, in which all of them benefited the villagers and people in different communities. The Salaklanghon had been used as places of worship for rituals based on beliefs and traditions (3) Public utility values, which all had been used as public areas that all local people have the right to use.
The places could be used to gather people in the community for public activities (4)
Aesthetics and environment values, with a spatial relationship between the interior and exterior, as well as in accordance with the terrain and climate, so those linked the characteristics to the natural environment, and (5) The mechanic wisdom value, of which the characteristics consistent with the locality and the inheritance of craftsmanship. Salaklanghon could also link to cultural tourism values in the Sathingphra Peninsula, the values consisted of (1) The valuable 26 potential cultural and artistic Salaklanghon (2) 40 Salaklanghon which connected the cultural tourism routes of the Sathingphra Peninsula (3) 11 Salaklanghon which linked to the cultural tourism sites in the Sathingphra Peninsula. Those could be classified as 2 cultural pilot tourism routes, which were (1) The route of the outstanding spiritual values Salaklanghon, those consisted of 15 Salaklanghon and (2) A route of outstanding artistic architectural wisdom Salaklanghon, consisted of 16 Salaklanghon.
The results of the study about values and potentials those connected
cultural tourism of the sample Salaklanghon and the pilot cultural tourism routes, were taken to an analyzing together with brainstorming sessions with villagers, community leaders, architects who were experts in architecture and academicians in the conservation of vernacular architecture in search and formulation of restoration issues which could be summarized as 3 issues; (1) The physical characteristics of the Salaklanghon, the management matters, and the utilization activities, which could be summarized as a guideline for the reconstruction of the Salaklanghon for the cultural tourism in the Sathingphra Peninsula, those were; (1) Determining the scope of the study, data collecting and data analysis (2) The physical restoration of the Salaklanghon and (3) The management guidelines for cultural tourism activities.
The recommendations from this research led to the organizing of
tourism activities for the use of the Salaklanghon and revitalization of existing values with cultural tourism routes and tourism development with the local community towards the sustainable participation.
