Abstract

The purposes of this research were: 1) to develop Phonics Learning Materials with Augmented Reality Technology to promote English reading pronunciation and word spelling for Grade 5 students, (2) to compare the English reading pronunciation ability of Grade 5 students learned by using Phonics Learning Materials with Augmented Reality Technology with learned by using conventional teaching methods, and (3) to compare the word spelling ability of Grade 5 students learned by using Phonics Learning Materials with Augmented Reality Technology with learned by using conventional teaching methods. The research population consisted of 69 of grade 5 students from Tessaban 5 Pattani Municipality School, Mueang District, Pattani Province, selected by cluster random sampling, and divided into two groups: an experimental group of 20 students who learned using Learning Materials with Augmented Reality Technology, and a control group of 20 students who received conventional teaching methods. The research instruments consisted of Phonics Learning Materials with Augmented Reality Technology to promote English reading pronunciation and word spelling for grade 5 students, the quality evaluation form of Phonics Learning Materials with Augmented Reality Technology, the lesson plans on "My Sweet Home" for Grade 5, the English reading pronunciation ability assessment form, and the word spelling ability assessment form.The research findings revealed that: 1) the overall quality of the Phonics Learning Materials with Augmented Reality Technology to promote English reading pronunciation and word spelling for Grade 5 students was at the highest level (x ?= 4.462, S.D. = 0.03), in terms of media design, media components, vocabulary and phonics content, and technology usage, 2) the English reading pronunciation ability of the experimental group after learning with the Phonics Learning Materials with Augmented Reality Technology was significantly higher than before learning at the .05 level. However, when compared to the control group, there was no statistically significant difference (t-test = 1.90, Sig. = .06), and 3) the word spelling ability of the experimental group and the control group after learning was significantly higher than before learning at the statistical level of .05. However, the experimental group had a significantly higher score than the control group at a statistical level of .05.
