Abstract
The objectives of this research was to establish the norm and to study the causal factors influence the biological literacy of Princess Chulabhorn Science High Schools in Thailand. There are 1580 students of Princess Chulabhorn Science High Schools in Mathayom 6. The sample divided into 2 phases. Phase 1 consisted of 402 students using Krejcie and Morgan, Phase 2 convenience sampling was selected by 275 students according to the ratio of parameters. The instruments used in the phase 1 research were biological literacy tests of 25 questions and Phase 2, 12 questions and 7 aspects of questionnaire include, motivation, curiosity, instructional media, edutainment, biology teacher, academic of biology and source of learning. The data was statistically analyzed by using basic statistics t-test one – way ANOVA T-score percentile and construct norms of biological literacy and analyzing the causal factors using Smart PLS 3.0 program. The results of the study showed that when classified by gender, it was found that the mean of biological cognition in attitudes and in overall has statistically significant differences at the .05 level. The overall average scores of biological literacy were classified by each region does not have statistically significant differences. The sample of biological literacy norms were ranged from T20 to T80 (P0.12 – P99.88). The results of the hypothesis testing of the structural equation model from all 14 hypotheses show that only 4 hypotheses are supported as followed: 1) academic of biology has a positive influence on curiosity, 2) biology teacher has a positive influence on edutainment, 3) instructional media has a positive influence on edutainment and 4) motivation has a positive influence on curiosity. The other 10 hypotheses showed that the influence between the two latent variables is not statistically significant, which
mean that it cannot support the hypothesis set forth.
