Abstract

The purposes of this research were to study motivation factors affecting employee engagement. Qualitative research method was adopted in this investigation. Researcher used in-depth interview with fourteen employees and focus group interview with the group of four supervisors and group of ten employees as primary data collection methods. The data was analysis by using discourse analysis technique. The findings on in-depth interview suggest that there were three motivating factors are three themes emerged which are 1) achievement 2) recognition and 3) work content. For the hygiene factors, there were three themes emerged which 1) pay 2) relationships among employees and 3) company policies. It appeared that when employee received the motivator factors and hygiene factors, it is likely that there was increasing of engagement level at work. Findings on focus group interview with group of supervisors believed that trust and confident were the key to engagement at the organization. However, group of employees believed that team work, work with pleasure and love can impact the work engagement for employees. This study sheds light on motivation factors, employee perceptions and reasons that effect employee engagement. Results suggest that practical contributions such as reducing turnover rates and creating work engagement for employees.
