Abstract

This study aimed to: firstly, to study the development of the structure and obstacles of the centre. Secondly, to study the operational situation of the center's staff. Lastly, to study the problems and obstacles in the operation of the center's staff. This study was a qualitative study using in-depth interviews. The sample included the staff who are working at Damrongtham Center in the three Southern Border Provinces and 4 districts of Songkhla province. The sample size is 20, 5 people in each province. Additionally, interviews included 5 people from the Provincial Islamic Committee, the Civil society and the local leader. Content analysis was used to analyse the data. The result illustrates that Most of the people misunderstood the role of the Damrongtham Center. The Damrongtham Center could not provide any budget for anyone. There were many problems and complained cases to the Damrongtham Center. However, the Damrongtham Center can really solve the aforementioned problems with a few cases. However, the staff of the various Damrongtham Centers are constrained by the many special laws in the Southern border provinces. Therefore, it is necessary to hire a legal practitioner. The sample group also suggested that the staff of the Damrongtham Center need a systematic management plan, an outsourced legal practitioner in each of the centers and also a field trip for the staff to learn and explore from other organisations. Lastly, the Damrongtham Center should provide inforamation about itself to people to enable people know about the center, what it can do and what it cannot do.
