Abstract

This research aims to examine factors that affect participation of the people in enhancing road safety. The sample size for this study was 400 residents in Muang District, Phatthalung Province. Data were collected using a survey questionnaire. Data were then analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, F-test, and multiple regression. According to the findings, the most significant factor influencing public participation in road safety enhancement is road safety conscience. This is followed by a monetary incentive for reporting violations of associated laws and a sense of social responsibility. As a result, any strategy or plan for improving road safety should begin with fostering a sense of social responsibility and road safety consciousness. This might be supplemented by offering a monetary incentive for reporting risky commuter conduct. All of these strategies can help people alter their mindsets and, as a result, improve their road safety behaviors.
