Abstract

The purposes of this study on needs for government supported social welfare of people with disabilities in Sadao City Municipality, Sadao District, Songkhla Province were to examine needs for government supported social welfare of people with disabilities inSadaoCity Municipality, Sadao District, Songkhla Province and to compare needsfor government supported social welfare classified according to personal factors. The study was conducted with 151 subjects who were people with disabilities in Sadao City Municipality, Sadao District, Songkhla Province. Data were collected through a questionnaire; levels of needs for government supported social welfare were analyzed using percentage, mean, standard deviation, independent sample t-test and one-way ANOVA; and the level of statistical significance was set at 0.05. The study found that the overall need for government supported social welfare of people with disabilities in Sadao City Municipality was at a high level. When considered by item, it was found that people with disabilities gave highest importance to health and nursing care, followed by housing, income and occupation, services and supporting networks, social security, and entertainment were at a very important level. Education was the only aspect with a moderate level of need. Comparisons of needs for government supported social welfare of people with disabilities according to personal factors, it was found that the age range, religion, level of education, income source, income sufficiency, type of housing, home Ownership, rights to medical welfare and welfare received were different at a significance level of 0.05 while gender, type of disability, cause of disability, marital status, occupation, residential community, caregiver, and self-help were not significantly different.
