| dc.description.abstract | This thesis aims to develop a novel magnetite C18/paracetamol//alginate bead-based on magnetic solid phase extraction for simultaneous extraction and determination of synthetic antioxidants, i.e. butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) and butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA), and bisphenol A (BPA) from water samples coupled with gas chromatography-flame ionization detection. A magnetic composite bead was composed of magnetite, carbon 18 and paracetamol incorporated with alginate (mC18/Pa/Alg). The morphology and composition of the bead were examined by field emission scanning electron microscope, energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry, X-ray diffraction spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller technique. The adsorption of synthetic antioxidants and BPA is attributed to hydrogen bonding, ?-? stacking, and hydrophobic interaction. The best extraction conditions were of 0.8% sodium alginate, 0.3 g of adsorbent, solution pH at 7 and desorption time of 10 min, and methanol as desorption solvent. Under the optimum condition, the linear calibration plot ranged from 0.015 and 1.00 ?g mL-1 with a limit of detection ranging of 6.86-9.66 ng mL-1. The developed method was successfully applied in water samples with acceptable recoveries (80.28-100.09%) and precisions (RSDs) of 0.46-4.32%. | - |
