Abstract

This action research aimed to identify the causes and effects of group study on Islamic ethics promotion in adherence to the faith among Muslimah youths in Ban Khaling, Pithen Sub-district, Thung Yang Daeng District, Pattani Province. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews with 23 informants consisting of 2 religious leaders, 8 parents of Thai Muslimah youth who lacked Islamic ethics in adherence to faith, and 13 youths who lacked Islamic ethics in adherence to faith. The data were analyzed using analytical description. Treatments were applied to 10 members of the target group who were assessed both before and after the operation with the Islamic Ethics Test. In-depth interviews were conducted with the informants, and these 10 members of the target group. They were also interviewed about the results of the group study activities. The data were analyzed and a report was written using description. The results of the study were as follows. 1. Six important causes of a lack of Islamic ethics in adherence to the faith among Muslimah youths in Ban Phithen Community, Thung Yang Daeng District, Pattani Province were found as follows: family background, lack of knowledge in Islamic ethics, socialization, influence of the media and technology, and peer pressure. 2. Overall, the effects of using group study activities on promotion of Islamic ethics in adherence to the faith was higher in all four components consisting of altruism, adhering uncompromisingly, gratitude, and love for others. The overall increase was found to be statistically higher at the level of .001 and the difference between the means was 1.03. The results indicated that group study activities could solve the problem of lacking Islamic ethics in adherence to the faith.
