| dc.description.abstract | Thesis Title A Study on Building Energy Management System for Convenience Stores in Thailand AuthorMiss Thitiporn ThomyapitakMajor ProgramEnergy TechnologyAcademic Year 2024 ABSTRACTThis research aims to analyze and explore the energy consumption patterns of convenience stores, as well as identify strategies for reducing their energy usage. Thailand experiences significant annual growth in the number of retail buildings, with nearly all of them operating for 24 hours daily. There is a substantial level of energy use. This study aims to provide an up-to-date analysis of the energy use of convenience stores by collecting data from a sample of six stores. These establishments have a sales area ranging from 107 to 314 square meters and operate for 16 to 24 hours each day. Our analysis of the data from the Digital Energy Meter reveals that all of the cooling systems, including the refrigeration and air conditioning systems, consume a significant amount of energy. Additionally, the objective of this study is to create a Retail Energy Management System (REMS) that enhances the energy efficiency of air conditioning systems in convenience stores in Thailand. This will be achieved by maintaining a comfortable temperature of 26 degrees Celsius for occupants. We have chosen the stores that possess distinct sales areas, operation hours, quantities of air conditioners, and numbers of refrigeration cabinets. These refrigeration cabinets, known as Plug-In, release heat straight into the sales area. Consequently, it can be inferred that REMS has the ability to enhance the efficiency of the air conditioning system by utilizing data-driven techniques in conjunction with the Internet of Things system concept. This involves the management and control of the air conditioning system through the use of Programmable Logic Control (PLC) software. As a result, REMS has the potential to decrease energy usage by 7% to 35%, depending on factors such as operating hours, heat load, and the impact of ambient temperature that is beyond our control. The average payback period on investment typically ranges from 3 to 5 years, with the exact duration depending on the number of operation hours of the business. In the future, concerning energy management system infrastructure, there is potential to identify opportunities for energy savings in other systems, such as refrigeration systems in convenience stores.Keyword : Convenience store, Retail Energy Management System, Internet of Things system for Energy Saving Conservation, Energy Efficiency | - |
