ผลของโปรแกรมส่งเสริมการปรับตัวต่อพฤติกรรมการปรับตัวในผู้ป่วยโรคซิสเทมิก ลูปัส อิริทีมาโตซัส

Abstract

This quasi-experimental, two group, pre-post test design study was aimed to examine the effect of an adaptation promoting program on adaptation behaviors in patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE). Forty eight SLE patients who were being followed up at the Rheumatology Clinic, Out Patient Medical Department at Songklanagarind Hospital were divided into a control group (n = 24) and an experimental group (n = 24). The control group received usual care and the experimental group received adaptation promoting program. This program was developed from Roy's adaptation theory and included three processes: 1) adaptation assessment, 2) nursing care plan, and 3) nursing intervention including: providing information about stimuli, providing necessary information for coping process, and follow up case studying. The research instruments included: 1) demographic data questionnaire, 2) the SLE patient's adaptation behaviors questionnaire, and 3) the adaptation promoting program. Three experts verified the program and the SLE patient's adaptation behaviors questionnaire for content validity. The SLE patient's adaptation behaviors questionnaire was tested in 30 SLE patients using Cronbach's alpha coefficient yielding a reliability value of 0.87. The data were analyzed using frequency. percentage, mean, standard deviation, and chi-square for demographic data, and the hypotheses were tested using t-test. The results showed that: 1. The mean score on SLE patient's adaptation behaviors after intervention in the experimental group was significantly higher than before intervention (p < 001). 2. The mean score on SLE patient's adaptation behaviors after intervention in the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group (p < 001). This study revealed that the SLE patients who have received the program could improve their level of adaptation behaviors. Therefore, nurses should implement this program in their practice in order to promote the adaptation of SLE patients.
