Surveys were used as the primary data collection method. A total of 231 sets of questionnaires were distributed to faculty members at YRU. The study population was divided into 4 faculties: the faculty of education, faculty of humanities and social science, faculty of management sciences and faculty of science technology and agriculture. Data analysis was conducted to identify descriptive statistics and comparison of means using the population average (?) and standard deviation of population (?). The findings revealed the following: 1. Among faculty members, 216 subjects have used online databases, whereas 15 have never used them before. Most of the non-users reported that they had no need to use online databases. The majority of the users stated that their objectives were to find information for their research. Their access frequency was inconsistent. The main database used was ThaiLis (TDC). The reasons identified for choosing to use online databases were to access up to date research and information. Respondents indicated that they primarily learn how to use online databases and work on them by themselves. Their primary access point is the personal office from 12:00-18:00 pm. 2. Respondents identified a number of challenges related to their use. Some online databases had insufficient content. Respondents indicated that they lacked the English language skills to properly access and use online databases. There were few librarians able to help faculty members with technical aspects of online databases. Busy networks interrupted online research. Finally, respondents indicated that there were few training seminars. 3. Faculty members recommended that the Academic Resources and Information Technology Center at YRU should update subscriptions and services for online databases and offer training courses and assistance regularly. Additionally, training and promotion of online databases should be improved and offered more frequently. 4. Faculty members also identified a number of potential options for improving their usage of online databases. These included increasing the number and types of databases to cover instruction of all educational levels and topics; librarians should improve their proficiency in English skills for retrieval and facilitation of access to online databases; network speeds should be increased; computer resources should be improved; and training must be offered continually and well promoted among faculty members. 5. Data analysis showed no differences by gender, age, faculty, educational level, academic title, teaching experience in higher education, research experience and the internet experience with problems of using online databases of faculty members, and data analysis showed differences in faculty members needs of online databases by different academic title, teaching experience in higher education, research experience, and the internet experience.
